From a cold, harsh North the Vikings voyaged. They pillaged, yes, but they explored and discovered new lands, and their lore is rich. Tolkien went back to those tales and gave fantasy its wings. NovlHeim goes back to the source: to the Norns three, to Yggdrasil, the mighty tree.
What beauty (or horror) will you summon from the cold emptiness of a blank page?
The name
The Vikings, the runes, the elves, the dwarves. Their art was sparse, but it survives and it still inspires.
Tolkien went back to those tales and gave the fantasy genre its wings. The most fitting way to honour that debt is to dive in at the source.
Novl is the novel, shortened the way a working title gets shortened. Heim is Old Norse for a home and, in the old cosmology, a world: Álfheim, Jötunheim, Vanaheim.
NovlHeim is a home for a novel and for the world it carries.
The ash that holds the nine worlds, from Niflheim's cold at the roots to Asgard in the crown. The gods crossed between them, and the Norns three sit at its well.
The tree the film grows is that tree, from a single seed.
The world of mist and cold at the roots, where nothing has grown yet. Change one letter and it is a blank page.
NovlHeim starts there on purpose.
The maker
The purpose of this beta is not to accumulate sign-ups.
It is to learn from writers who care deeply about their stories.

The promise
The first version of NovlHeim does not generate your prose and does not require AI to function. Nothing in Core writes a sentence for you, and nothing in Core needs a model to run.
Core stays AI-free, always. Later, an optional expansion that analyses and coaches, and never writes a sentence.
Human creativity stays human.
The road
NovlHeim Core, version one: Windows, AI-free, complete. The manuscript, the world and the plan in one window.
A Notes workspace and an Outliner, then an image gallery for the codex. Each arrives as a v1.x update, included in the licence.
Desktop first. Web and mobile only after a shared service layer exists, so the desktop app never waits on them.
Later, an expansion you switch on: the Archivist, review passes, research, and a Canon Engine that knows your world. It suggests and analyses. It never writes your prose, and Core stays whole without it.
Windows today. macOS is in work. Then iPhone and Android, tablets that behave like the desktop rather than a stretched phone, and the web.
